In 2006 we watched the Freeport of Monrovia's only Pilot Boat get trapped under a pier by rising tides, and then slowly sink over a period of three days. Since then, the tugs Bushrod Island and more recently Defender have been carrying the Pilots to and from ships, but today a new Pilot Boat arrived, a brand spanking new high-speed fibreglass power boat, which could double up as a sports-fishing boat at weekends I reckon.
