JOBS OLLY JOBS OLLY JOBS OLLY JOBS OLLY JOBS OLLY

For the last 4 weeks I've been doing some temp work in a factory. I've enjoyed the variety of work, but am increasing aware that there probably won't be work there for me much longer, so I've gotta look for another job - which is a challenge in itself - and I'm asking God to guide me in the right direction so I get a job in a church or other ministry or charity, so I am working towards making the world a better place and not just earning money for the boss or shareholders, if you get me. I'd appreciate your prayers. Oh Lord, please guide me. Olly

We hear you Olly! It's tough work to find new direction when you get home. Say Hi to Noah, Anna and Libby for Nate and Esther

Olly, I love ya brother. And it’s because I love you that I have to disagree with your post. You have the wrong attitude.

Work makes the world better. Wasn’t Jesus a carpenter? Didn’t Paul make tents? Wasn’t Peter a fisherman? Look at the income you make from work as God’s blessing. A blessing that helps you provide for your family, help your neighbor, and/or support a missionary. That makes the world a better place.

A “job” in a church, ministry or charity has never been the prerequisite for ministry and making the world a better place. That attitude demeans those that don’t get paid from ministry. Work is noble. God ordained it from the very beginning of creation when he commanded Adam to care for the garden.

Work has never been about “just earning money”. It’s about making something that makes the world better, life easier, bringing glory to Jesus, providing for family, etc. It sure seems like that rock splitter and operating table fit the bill of making the world better, especially for the guy that has to split rocks. Your work might not directly benefit the poorest of the poor, but don’t let having a job stop you from helping the down and out.

Brother, honest work is noble, Christ honoring, and beneficial to all. Embrace it.

With Love,
Byron

Olly isn't asking you to agree with his post, he's asking for prayer and for God to guide him. I personally know Olly and I 'get him'. That is, I know what he's saying and how he feels...and his life has been about doing work (whatever it may be, fixing stuff, training people, running errands - examples-) in a ministry setting. What's wrong with him wanting to do that?

The point and/or intent was not about 'demeaning' anyone else's job. We don't even know what Olly's options are! This is the desire of HIS heart.

Sheesh. You ask for prayer and get your post picked apart.

MS support probably not..

Dorset is not likely the place to even look for a job (as is the most of England....)

O and S (and beloveds), do what you must..
